FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How would you describe your shooting style? 

We switch between candid and posed shots throughout the day. During bridal portrait sessions we use an “unposed posed” method where we put you into a pose and give you a prompt. For example, I may ask you to wrap each other up in a hug. Then, I’ll ask the groom to whisper something like his favourite part of you, or the grossest word he’s ever heard. Cue either tears or laughter, and we have a beautifully natural and candid shot that just so happens to be in a flattering pose in perfect lighting. We find this method captures your amazing personalities and relationship dynamics in a seemingly effortless way! 

Throughout the ceremony and reception we use a photo-journalistic style of shooting. We cover what happens the way it happens, and love to capture the sweet candid moments throughout the night. We try not to interrupt the fun, but if you want specific group shots please let us know so we can make them happen!

We don’t have a maximum or minimum number of photos we limit ourselves to as each wedding is so different. However, for a standard 8 hour wedding we usually send back approx. 450+ images. 

How many images will we receive? 

When will our gallery be ready?

Our turn-around time is 10 weeks. Of course, if your gallery is ready early we send it right away! We also send you a sneak peek gallery of 10+ images within 4 days of your wedding. 

What is the booking process like?

Booking is super easy! If you haven’t already, send us a message through our contact form so we can get to know you and hear about your wedding plans. If we are available we will send you our pricing info. To reserve your date, we’ll have you sign a contract which is sent to you electronically. Once the non-refundable retainer is received ($1500) the date is officially yours! The final amount is due 1 month before the wedding date. 

Do you have back-up gear?

Yes, we definitely have lots of backup gear. We always bring nearly double the batteries we need and way too many SD cards. We also bring an extra camera body each, lenses, stabilizers, mics, raincovers for our gear, etc. 

Are you insured?

Absolutely!

Do you offer coverage outside of Edmonton?

We definitely do! If you let us know where venue is, we can provide you with a customized quote for travel. 

What if it rains on my wedding day?

We will make the most of it, I promise! Here are some things to embrace if your day is a little rainy: 

Overcast skies create a natural softbox, so no spotted harsh light! 

Sunset is almost always extra beautiful on rainy days. If you know the rain will limit your photo time earlier in the day, plan to sneak away during the reception to get those shots during the sunset. The golden hour glow will make up for it!

Consider a post-wedding photoshoot. We can plan for a day with perfect weather in whatever location you love most, and will have a more relaxed session than is possible on a wedding day. Ask us for more info on this option!

Make a rain plan for your peace of mind ahead of time: visit some covered locations ahead of time to make sure you love the option you choose, or maybe even rent a cute air bnb that can double as a getting ready location! Your venue may have some beautiful spots you can use, or have suggestions on some local options. Or, if you are open to embracing the weather, some cute white or clear umbrellas would be perfect! 

One of my favourite photos ever was taken during a torrential downpour of rain and hail. During our photo session at Mount Washington we had some scattered showers, but as soon as we got on the ski lift the storm began. We had no way off the lift - we had to go all the way up and back down before we could get off! Brayden and I cuddled up and had to laugh at our situation. We were completely soaked, and tried to protect each other from the hail pelting us. Our main concern was the poor bride - I felt so bad as I watched her dress soak up the rain. She was such a trooper, and made sure everyone else was okay. I will always remember how sweet she was about it! The good news is, we got some beautiful shots of that crazy adventure. No matter what happens on your wedding day, it will be one amazingly beautiful adventure!
